Faces of Haiti: Denver, CO

For anyone in the Colorado area, or those with friends, family, or colleagues nearby, HELP invites you to come out and support this great multimedia event organized by our good friend, Melissa Basta!

"Faces of Haiti: Through Art and Photography" is designed to raise awareness and funds for organizations working to rebuild from the January 2010 earthquake. A portion of the proceeds from the 5-week exhibition at EventGallery 910Arts will benefit HELP, among other Haiti-related organizations.

May 5

"Private Preview Reception: A pre-opening celebration, this is an opportunity to view the artwork, meet the artists and select purchases prior to the public opening. (10:00am-4:00pm, $25 at the door)

May 26

"Film Screening: “Nou Bouke: Haiti’s Past, Present and Future,” a documentary that chronicles the weariness many Haitians say they feel a year after a devastating earthquake shattered their lives, will be shown for the first time in Denver. Produced by The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald in collaboration with independent filmmaker Joe Cardona and WPBT2, Miami’s public television station, Nou Bouke (“We’re tired”) is narrated by award-winning Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat. (7:00pm-8:00pm, $5 suggested donation)

Photographs: work from humanitarian photographers Colby Brown and Ray Tollison, including images of HELP students at work and play.
