Rum Barbancourt Advances Education in Haiti with Five Year Partnership with HELP
Haitian Education and Leadership Program and Rum Barbancourt Announce Five Year Scholarship Program
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP), Rum Barbancourt has committed to a five-year partnership to support higher education in Haiti.
HELP and Rum Barbancourt announce a five-year partnership, from 2021 to 2026, to support the HELP university scholarship program that has been operating in Haiti for 25 years. This partnership will fund three full five-year scholarships and create the Thierry Gardère – Admissions and Recruitment office at HELP.
The Office of Admissions and Recruitment is the first stop for all applicants who aspire to the organization’s Excellence and Merit Scholarship. HELP’s mission is to create a generation of young professional leaders who will contribute to a more just Haiti. HELP is proud to name this office after the late CEO of the Société du Rhum Barbancourt Thierry Gardère, who always valued higher education in Haiti.
HELP Country Director, Garry Delice recalls the first check he received from Mr. Gardère in 2007. “I asked him what convinced him to make that first contribution,” Garry recalls, ” he said that he always believed in education for change, that Haiti cannot take off without an educated population to push the country forward.”
Over the years, Barbancourt has always been a supporter of HELP. Today, with Delphine Gardère, the current CEO, this partnership is not only giving back to the Haitian community but also honoring the legacy of her father.
Delphine concludes, ” As we continue to believe in a brighter future for Haiti, we are convinced that investing in HELP is the right approach and one that proudly honors my father’s legacy “.
Thierry Gardère’s vision and investment are already producing tangible results, as Barbancourt now counts two HELP graduates among its employees. This commitment roots Barbancourt in the past, present, and future of HELP and its students.

Le Rhum Barbancourt supporte l’Enseignement Supérieur en Haïti grâce à un partenariat de cinq ans avec HELP.
Pour célébrer le 25e anniversaire du Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP), Rhum Barbancourt (www.barbancourt.com) s’engage au côté de l’organisation à travers un partenariat quinquennal pour supporter l’Enseignement Supérieur en Haiti.
HELP et le Rhum Barbancourt sont heureux d’annoncer un partenariat pour cinq ans, de 2021 à 2026 pour supporter le programme de bourses d’études universitaire opérant en Haïti depuis 25 ans. Ce partenariat permettra de financer trois bourses d’études complètes de cinq ans et de créer le bureau d’« Admissions et Recrutement Thierry Gardère » à HELP.
Le bureau des admissions et de recrutement constitue la porte d’entrée de tous les candidats qui aspirent obtenir la bourse d’excellence et de mérite de l’organisation qui se donne pour mission de créer une génération de jeunes leaders professionnels qui contribueront à une Haiti plus juste. HELP est fier que ce bureau porte le nom de l’ancien Directeur Général de la Société du Rhum Barbancourt Thierry Gardère qui a toujours fait de l’Education une de ses priorités surtout dans le contexte d’Haiti.
Le Directeur National de HELP, Garry Délice, se rappelle encore le premier chèque qu’il a reçu de M. Gardère en 2007. “Je lui ai demandé ce qui l’avait convaincu de faire ce geste en faveur de HELP “, se souvient Garry, “il m’a répondu qu’il est convaincu que l’éducation reste et demeure la force du changement et qu’Haïti ne pouvait décoller sans une population éduquée pour faire avancer le pays.”
Au cours des années, Barbancourt a toujours été un supporteur de HELP. Aujourd’hui, avec Delphine Gardère, l’actuelle Présidente- Directrice Générale, ce partenariat est non seulement un retour à la communauté haïtienne mais aussi un geste pour honorer l’héritage de son père.
Delphine conclut : “Alors que nous continuons à penser et à croire en un avenir meilleur pour Haïti, nous sommes convaincus qu’investir dans HELP est la bonne approche et celle qui honore fièrement l’héritage de mon père”.
La vision et l’investissement de Thierry Gardère donnent déjà des résultats palpables, puisque Barbancourt compte aujourd’hui deux gradués de HELP parmi ses employés. Cet engagement enracine Barbancourt dans le passé, le présent et l’avenir de HELP et de ses étudiants.
