Stronger Together: Service Learning as Cornerstone of Student Citizenship

Local communities host first-year students teaching literacy in schools

Some of our most valuable partnerships are the ones closest to home. All students participate in a four-year, citizenship & leadership curriculum, which combines leadership theory, with service projects that benefit the local community.

The service projects are based on the idea that wealth is having something to share. While students who come to HELP do not see themselves as wealthy, they soon learn that they have a lot to share. And through hands-on experience in service projects, students quickly gain the skills, experience, and confidence to launch their own effective initiatives and partnerships. Read more here.
