HELP students speak at CGIU
Stanley Clermont sits on closing panel in Miami
April 17, 2010
From HELP’s May 2010 newsletter: For the past several years, HELP has been an active participant in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). In order to engage college students in service and service projects, former President Clinton created CGIU in 2008.
The 2010 annual meeting was hosted by the University of Miami, and CGIU invited two HELP students to speak on panels. HELP alumna Syndie Pierre-Canel eloquently spoke about her experience as a student in Haiti on the panel “Overcoming the Toughest Obstacles: Education for the most disadvantaged children and youth.” Click here for the video webcast of Syndie’s panel (the 7th link under Saturday April 17).
Fifth-year engineering student Stanley Clermont was on the closing plenary with former President Clinton, author Edwidge Danticat, and Indianapolis Colts start Pierre Garcon. Stanley talked about his experience in the earthquake and how it changed his vision of the future.
